Platinum was first introduced into Europe in the 18th century.Today most of the worlds platinum is mined in South Africa and Russia. Platinum has become the most revered of all the precious metals.

Platinum jewellery in Ireland is 95% pure as opposed to 18ct gold which is only 75% pure , being alloyed with other metals such as copper and silver.

Platinum is 30 times rarer than gold. Infact if you placed all of the platinum ever mined into an olympic sized swimming pool , it would only have a depth of 4 inches.

10 tonnes of rock must be mined just to produce 1 ounce of platinum.

Platinum is an incredible metal with an extraordinary high melting temperature of over 1700 degrees celsius. It is heavier than gold and more durable. Platinum does not loose its lustre as it is an inert metal and does not corrode.
